Before sunlight can shine through a window,

the blinds must be raised.

I am passionate about  the wisdom, courage, health and joy that lives within every person. Each of us contain the keys to healing our lives, and living to our fullest potential. We contain all that we need. Through deeply attentive and empathic listening, my role is to facilitate healing using various modalities to tap into clients' and students' deepest inner truths and most intimate sense of themselves.

I have a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from The Institute of Transpersonal Psychology. I am a Marriage and Family Therapy Senior Associate IMF 103368 at New Perspectives Center for Counseling in San Francisco where I work with individuals, couples, families and groups under the supervision of Marty L. Cooper, LMFT 42185. In addition to my work with clients at NPCC, I offer a range of workshops which encourage psycho-spiritual development through the use of Sufi poetry and creative expression. I also offer workshops for couples to build intimacy and optimize communication. These workshops are not therapy, they are workshops that I offered based on what I have learned through receiving my Master's degree.

My workshops offer students a penetrating look into their own heart and hidden resources. Students leave with useful, artful and inspiring tools to tap into their deepest inner wisdom whenever they feel lost, confused or unsure.

A bit more detail about how I work, my perspective, my education and background:

I empower my clients with the tools that they need to work with themselves, thus fostering independence and self‐sovereignty. I draw from a broad spectrum of psychotherapeutic modalities in order to best facilitate each client's unique process and path toward self awareness, goal achievement and mind, body, spirit balance. I meet my clients where they are with empathy, unconditional positive regard and a strong belief that the clients hold their own wisdom and healing, and that my job is to help them to uncover that natural drive towards health and wholeness. Some modalities that I use include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychosynthesis and Attachment Theory. I also use mindfulness techniques to help clients be present with their feelings and turn toward them.

When working with couples and families, I help to unmask ingrained systemic patterns, facilitate more effective, positive communication and to encourage win-win scenarios.

I am an experienced Marriage and Family Therapy Senior Associate. I have a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology in Palo Alto, CA. My approach is humanistic, client focused and psychodynamic.

I graduated from Clark University in 1994 and worked in the advertising industry for six years before deciding to move into psychotherapy. The transition was from a career to a calling. In 2007, I graduated from The Institute of Transpersonal Psychology, in Palo Alto. I have worked with clients as a therapy intern in several settings, including Princeton Theological Seminary, Sir Francis Drake High School, Marin Services for Women (a residential substance abuse program for women) and The Center for Attitudinal Healing.

Alternative Therapies

Alternative therapies are used to work on a different level of consciousness. Using specific methods, we are able to tap into subtle aspects of the self and gently release patterns that may be holding us back from truly living to our full potential. With alternative therapies, we don't need to delve into psychological detail in order to experience a shift.
